We
all save T-shirts because they represent what's important in our
lives....who we are, what we do, and where we've been. We won't throw
t-shirts out because they tell our life history and are a record of our
favorite pursuits. Eventually a "what to do with all these
t-shirts?" stage is reached.
Thousands of
people have created a visual biography using the T-QUILT pattern, and
here's what they say:
- "When
my son left for college, I cleaned his room and counted 88
t-shirts."
- "I
can't bear to part with my tour shirts, even tho' I wouldn't be
caught dead wearing them again."
- "...for
my husband's 50th in the year 2000."
- "My
senior-in-college daughter still has her t-shirts from the 1st grade
on up."
- "At 2
to 3 shirts a month for 17 years of running, we've run out of drawer
space."
- "You
had us all talking at our sorority alumnae meeting."
- "My
husband is a Viet Nam veteran and has a large collection of POW-MIA
t-shirts he can't bear to part with."
- "This
will be a wonderful wedding gift for my fiance."
- "I will
use the pattern to capture my dad's long career as a labor
advocate."
- "She
was 19 and our only child. She had so many favorite t-shirts I
couldn't throw away."
- "My
musician husband gets T's from clubs, festivals, and radio stations
nationwide."
- "...as
a legacy of the work I've done at the NASA Johnson Space Center with
T's commemorating Shuttle missions."
- "My
husband was killed a year ago. Many of his t-shirts reflect his
life. It will be nice to keep them around, close to me."
- "I have
200 T's from concerts, fraternity and sorority events, and every
possible vacation place from everyone in my family."
- "I
usually throw out my boyfriend's T's. He'll keep thinking I threw
them out...until Christmas morning."
- "My
husband has a Harley bike and hundreds of t-shirts."
- "I want
to make one out of my son's t-shirts. He was killed by a drunk
driver."
- "This
will be the only way to save my basketball T's from my mother's
charitable hands."
- "...a
creative and inexpensive way to display event t-shirts from past
(Red Cross) fund raisers."
- "My
fiance is a recovering drug addict and collects T's from his groups
activities."
- "Martha
Stewart would love this!"
- "We're
making a quilt for the main hallway out of all of our school's t's."
- "My son
has been wearing heavy metal t-shirts for 5 years and is finally
beginning to wear normal clothes like the rest of the world."
- "Our
daughter wants an "international" bedroom with a quilt
made from her travel T's."
- "My
sister lost her husband to cancer, and he was an avid t-shirt
collector, having hundreds."

in time to retrieve the discarded T's bagged for our upcoming garage
sale."
